Velvet offers two simple and secure login methods—Google login and mobile number login using an OTP (One-Time Password).
This page explains everything related to account access, login issues, phone number changes, account deletion, and more.

Login Methods

You can sign in using one of two methods:

1) Google Login
Tap “Sign in with Google”, choose your Google account – you’re in.

2) Mobile Number (OTP Login)
Tap “Sign in with Mobile Number”, enter your phone number in international format (e.g. +41…).
Once the number is valid, the button turns purple and you can request an SMS code.

By signing in with Google or mobile number, you automatically agree to Velvet’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

How does the OTP (SMS) login work?

Velvet uses a password-free login system.

When you log in with your phone number:

  • You receive a unique 6-digit SMS code

  • The code is valid for a short time

  • Enter it once → access granted

After this, you stay logged in and you don’t need a new code again unless you:

  • Log out manually

  • Uninstall the app

  • Change your device or clear app data

This keeps login secure, simple, and fast.

Security note:
SMS codes cannot be forwarded, reused, or copied from another device.

I changed my phone number — what now?

If you signed up with your phone number, it cannot be changed inside the app because it is your login key.

Please contact Velvet Support and provide:

  • Your old phone number (with country code)

  • Your new phone number

Our team will verify your identity and help transfer your account.

If you use Google login, a phone number change does not affect your access.

Do I need to enter a code every time?

No. As long as you stay logged in and don’t reinstall the app or change device, you will not be asked for a new SMS code.

How do I delete my account?

Go to: Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account
Your entire profile, photos, chats and friends are permanently removed.

Note: Purchases such as Boosts, Pins, or Ghost Mode are not refunded.

I can’t log in — what should I try?

Please check the following:

  • Make sure your phone number is in the correct format (+ country code)

  • Check that you have a stable internet connection

  • Wait up to 60 seconds for the SMS to arrive

  • If you use Google login, make sure you select the same Google account you used when you first registered

If you suddenly see a completely empty new profile, you probably logged in with a different phone number or email than before.

If none of these steps help, please contact Velvet Support so we can assist you.

I no longer have access to my old number. Can I still recover my account?

Yes, in some cases it’s still possible.

If you signed up with a phone number and lost access to it, please contact Velvet Support and tell us your old number.
For security reasons, we may ask you for additional proof that the account really belongs to you, for example:

  • Your old phone number (with country code)

  • Details about your profile (city, age, About Me, interests)

  • A description of your profile photos

  • Names of friends or groups you recently interacted with

  • Screenshots or receipts of recent purchases (Boosts, Pins, Ghost Mode)

  • In some cases, we may ask for a photo ID to confirm your identity

If we are not able to confidently verify that you are the rightful owner, Velvet may not be able to restore access to that account.
This protects you and other users from account takeover and misuse.
