Map & List View

Velvet’s Map and List View help you discover people who are near your approximate location.
Your exact address is never shown — distances and map positions are always softened for privacy.

What the Maps shows

Velvet never shows your exact position.

Users appear on the Map as approximate location bubbles:

• The bubble is randomly shifted within up to 1 km

• Your precise location is never displayed

• This protects your privacy at all times

The bubble simply shows your general area, not your real coordinates.

What the List View shows

The List View shows a clean list of users near you with:

• Profile photo

• Name & age

• Approximate distance in km

Distance is not exact

Velvet always rounds the distance to whole kilometers (e.g., 13.1 km → 13 km).

This prevents precise tracking and keeps you safe.

Filters

You can refine who you see using:

• Distance (up to 300 km)

• Age range

• Gender (Women, Men, All)

Filters apply to both Map and List View.

Boost (Visibility Upgrade)

A Boost increases your visibility for 30 minutes.

When activated:

• Your profile moves to the top of the Map, List View, and Explore

• Your Map bubble becomes highlighted in pink (only visible to you)

Boost does not change your location — only your visibility.

How to activate a Boost

Boosts are activated directly from the Map.

Activate via Map

1. Open the Map

2. Tap the lightning icon (⚡) in the top left corner

3. Purchase a Boost (if you don’t have any yet)
   
   

After purchase:

➡️ A pink pop-up appears:
“Activate your Boost”

➡️ Tap “Boost” to activate instantly
➡️ Your Boost runs for 30 minutes

If you don’t want to activate it yet, simply swipe the pop-up away.

Buying Boosts

You can purchase Boosts in two ways:

1. From the Map

• Tap the lightning icon (⚡)

• Buy Boosts directly

• After purchase, you are returned to the Map

• The number of Boosts is now shown on the icon

➡️ The activation pop-up appears immediately

2. From your Profile

1. Go to your Profile

2. Open Balance

3. Tap “Get Boosts”

4. Complete your purchase

➡️ You are automatically redirected to the Map
➡️ The same pink “Activate your Boost” pop-up appears

Important

• Your available Boosts are shown as a number on the lightning icon (⚡)

• A Boost only starts after you tap “Boost”

• You can dismiss the activation pop-up anytime if you don’t want to use it immediately

• Other users do not see that you are using a Boost

Adding Friends

You can add people directly from Map or List View:

• Map: Tap a bubble → profile opens → tap Add Friend

• List View: Tap Add

Once they accept your request, you can chat.

Ghost Mode & the Map

Not everyone wants to appear on a map — and that’s completely understandable.
Velvet gives you full control over your visibility.

If you prefer to stay private, you can activate Ghost Mode:

• You will not appear on the Map

• You will not appear in the List View

• You will not appear in Explore

• Your online status becomes invisible

You can still use the entire app normally:

• Browse profiles

• Chat with your friends

• Join groups

• Post Pins

• View everything as usual

Only others won’t see you anywhere inside the app.

Ghost Mode options

You can choose:

• 24 hours of Ghost Mode

• 30 days of Ghost Mode

Your remaining Ghost time is always shown on your Profile (e.g., Active until…).

Designed for your safety & comfort

Ghost Mode exists for users who:

• Don’t want to share their location

• Want to browse quietly

• Prefer a more private experience

• Want to stay connected without being visible
